There are many shows throughout NSW that offer Standardbred classes, and SPPHA NSW is always working to convince show organisers to include the Standardbred in their programmes.
Check our Show Calendar for shows are coming up and get your Standy out there competing!
To help you, the SPPHA NSW Guide to Showing and Standard of Excellence for the Standardbred, will guide you through what the judges will be looking for in both Led and Ridden classes, and presentation standards for both horse and handler.
Any Standardbred is welcome to compete at agricultural shows - not only SPPHA NSW members.

For members however, we run two High Point competitions.
The National High Point Competition encompasses most states in Australia, with 2 Junior sections for members under 18 showing mares or geldings, and 3 Senior sections for those over 18 showing mares, geldings or stallions.
For 2011-2012 the four nominated for our NSW members to compete in are:
- Penrith Show 28th August 2011
- St Ives Spring Show 23rd October 2011
- Luddenham Show 3rd-4th March 2012
- Castle Hill Show 16th-18th March 2012
A score card is to be signed by the judge at the 4 shows. On completion of the season all cards are send to Melbourne to be tallied and the results are then advised. Entries for the National High Point Competion are mailed out to all members.
Our NSW State High Points Competition encompasses all NSW shows. Please forward your results to PO Box 3471, Dural 2158. Our NSW show season begins with Hawkesbury show each year. Once the season has finished, results are tallied and a presentation is held usually at our AGM in November.
