Harness Racing NSW off the Track Series  2020/2021

SPPHA NSW proudly presents the Harness Racing New South Wales Off The Track Series for the 2020-2021 Season

The Harness Racing New South Wales Off The Track series is to promote Standardbred's as Pleasure Horses upon their retirement from their traditional role of Harness Racing. This will be the Fourth Series run in New South Wales and focuses on the transition made from Harness Racing into show horse for Standardbreds.

Harness Racing New South Wales is the governing body for Harness Racing in New South Wales and are committed to the welfare of our Standardbred horses, before, during and after their racing life.  We are extremely excited to continue promoting this series  with Harness Racing New South Wales  promoting the breed in the broader equestrian community.

The Standardbred Pleasure and Performance Horse Association of New South Wales are honored to have a close working relationship with Harness Racing New South Wales for numerous projects since 2016 promoting Life After Racing, including the Harness Racing New South Wales Off The Track Series.

JUDGING THE HARNESS RACING NEW SOUTH WALES OFF THE TRACK CLASS

The ridden Standardbred should be judged as any normal ridden horse, as we are promoting the breed for its versatility. Transitions should be clean with minimal evidence of pacing. All horses should carry themselves in a nice outline, with a degree of rounding, not above or below the bit and not over bent through all gaits. Standardbreds are generally big moving horses therefore it is encouraged that horses show some lengthened trot in their workouts. Judging is based on the ‘Hack’ both your in hand and saddle re-education will be judged accordingly.

Competitors will be judged on the combination of horse and handler/rider. Combinations will be judged on compatibility, re-education, how well they work together, conformation (of horse) and movement.

The winner of the class should be the one that strikes the judge as their ideal Standardbred horse that has made a successful transition from track to show horse. Any injuries, scars or blemishes that do not impede the  horse’s movement will not affect their placings in the Off the Track Event.

Judges decision is FINAL.
